3G, 2HR… ‘Scene stealer’ Park Joon-young, leading Doosan’s 5-game winning streak

Doosan Bears infielder Park Jun-young (26) is showing his presence through his performance in ‘Altoran’ in the climax season of the ranking competition.

Doosan won 8-6 in the away game against the KIA Tigers held at Kia Champions Field in Gwangju on the 15th. In the top of the 9th inning, when the score was tied at 6-6, Kang Seung-ho hit an infield hit with one out and runners on first base, sparking a comeback, and the three subsequent batters all walked, leading to a comeback. Kang Seung-ho played a key role in the victory by recording the 30th cycling hit of all time (home run, triple, double, single).

Park Jun-young, who had more opportunities to play in the second half of the season, also played a key role in leading the team to victory. He came to the plate as a pinch hitter for No. 9 hitter Jo Soo-haeng, whose team was down 5-6, and hit a changeup on the third pitch from KIA left-handed setup man Choi Ji-min, hitting a tying home run that went over the left wall. He injected strength into the Doosan batting line, which was in a depressed mood.

Park Joon-young also contributed to scoring at the plate in the top of the 9th inning. With 1 out and runners on first base, Seung-ho Kang got an infield single and Gyeong-min Heo got a walk, giving Doosan a chance to load the bases. Pinch hitter Kim In-tae hit a walk and an RBI to take the lead to 7-6. In the ensuing situation, Park Jun-young scored a slider that was out of the strike zone after a no-count match with the changed pitcher Jang Hyun-sik, leading the scoring once again.

Park Jun-young started as the third hitter in the game against the Hanwha Eagles on the 12th and hit a solo home run from opposing pitcher Lee Tae-yang in the bottom of the second inning. He also started as a starter against SSG Landers on the 14th and recorded 1 hit in 3 at-bats. In the KIA match on the 15th, where he was waiting for a pinch hitter, he performed the ‘scene stealer’ mission in the second half of the game.

스포츠토토Park Jun-young, who was selected in the first round by NC Dinos in the 2016 rookie draft, wore a Doosan uniform as a compensation player for Park Se-hyuk, who signed a free agent (FA) contract with NC. Although he had few opportunities to play in the first half of the season, he appeared as a starter in 18 of the 31 games he played in the second half, recording a batting average of 0.282, 3 home runs, and 12 RBIs, contributing to making up for the poor condition of the existing starting players.

Doosan has won 5 games in a row since the match against the Samsung Lions on the 9th. The momentum to regain 5th place is skyrocketing. An ‘unsung hero’ has appeared and is injecting vitality.
