Kim Hyung-jin has played in Anyang since 2017 and played a total of 128 K-League games until the playoffs (PO), holding the record for the most appearances in Anyang club.

However, in the 2022 season, he only played 8 games including PO.

He scored his first goal in the K-League 7 years after his professional debut against Busan I-Park in March of last year at the beginning of the season, in which he injured his right knee.

Although he thought it was a minor injury, he was diagnosed with a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament and underwent surgery for the first time in his career.

It took him 7 months to get back on the ground. On October 15th, he played a comeback match against Gyeongnam FC in the final match of the regular round, and finished the season by participating in the K-League 2 PO with Gyeongnam and the 1st and 2nd rounds of the Promotional PO with Suwon Samsung.

Unable to show his full potential due to injury, he is currently gearing up for the 2023 season through winter training. Last month, he renewed his contract and decided to continue with Anyang.

Kim Hyung-jin said at the 2023 K-League Winter Field Training Media Camp held at the General Social Welfare Center in Namhae-gun, Gyeongnam on the 17th, “Anyang is a team that I like and have been with for a long time. He said he wanted to return from injury and be evaluated in good form, but the club waited for me. He explained the reason for staying, saying, “I decided to stay in order to make sure that the team will be promoted after returning.”

Regarding his physical condition, he said, “Since I was away for a long time due to an injury last year, I am focusing on improving my physical strength from the first battery training. My current physical condition has improved by about 60-70%.”

When asked about his personal goal this season, he said, “I want to play without injury. I want to play my best in each game no matter how many games I play.”

He added, “As a defender, you have to defend well from behind. The team is stable only when the defense is stable. I will try to reduce the team’s runs as much as possible this season.”
