Bae returns to the line-up after break… to face Wainwright [MK Spotlight]

The Pittsburgh Pirates’ Bae Ji-hwan has returned to the starting lineup.

Bae is expected to start at second base for the Pittsburgh Pirates against the St. Louis Cardinals at PNC Park in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on 23 April.

바카라 Bae, who was benched the previous day to rest, will face veteran right-hander Adam Wainwright, who is 3-8 with an 8.42 ERA this season.

Wainwright has faced the Pirates once before, going 1-for-2 with a walk and a strikeout.

Pittsburgh announced the following starting lineup for the game: Bae Ji-Hwan (second base), Brian Reynolds (left field), Andrew McCutchen (designated hitter), Conor Jo (right field), Endy Rodriguez (catcher), Joshua Palacios (middle infield), Vinny Capra (third base), Alfonso Rivas (first base), and Alica Williams (shortstop). The starting pitcher is Johan Oviedo.

Zack Suwinski, who is in the midst of a severe slump, going 4-for-56 (.071) in 19 games in August, was left out of the lineup.

Pittsburgh manager Derek Shelton said, “Overall, he’s having a pretty good season, but he’s been struggling lately. We think it’s best for him to continue to work on his game here rather than send him down to Triple-A right now,” Shelton said of Suwinski.

“We know he’s got some good hitting ability, power in there. He just needs to be a little more aggressive at the plate and clear his mind at the same time.”

Right-hander Luis Ortiz joined the taxi squad today. He will pitch the final game of the series a day later.

His role is undetermined. He could start, or he could come in after the opener.

“The biggest message when we sent him down to Triple-A was to get back to where he was last year, and I think he’s made progress,” Shelton said, adding that he came back a better version of himself in Triple-A.
