K-Modric’ Hwang In-beom nominated for ‘Greece Player of the Month’

Hwang In-beom was nominated for the Greek League Player of the Month for February.

Olympiacos shared on the 9th (Korean time) through the club’s social media channel that Hwang In-beom was selected as the Greek Super League메이저놀이터, Player of the Month for February Elada.

Hwang In-beom grew up at Daejeon Citizen (currently Daejeon Hana Citizen) and Bencooper Whitecaps. He entered the European stage in 2020 when he joined Russian Premier League (RPL) Rubin Kazan. Hwang In-beom made a smooth landing by scoring 5 offensive points (3 goals, 2 assists – 2 goals, 3 assists) for two consecutive seasons.

But the companionship came to an abrupt end. Everything turned upside down when Russia invaded Ukraine. In the end, Hwang In-beom returned to Korea according to the special provisions of the International Football Federation (FIFA) and joined hands with FC Seoul. Even though it was a short time, he showed off his health while leaving an impact worthy of a national representative.

Hwang In-beom left for Europe right away. This time, he entered the prestigious Olympiacos in Greece. He didn’t even need an adaptation. Hwang In-beom has played 30 games in all competitions this season. He is in charge of the Olympiacos midfield by steadily stepping on the ground under the moderation of coach Jose Mitchell.

Hwang In-beom, who has been reborn as the best midfielder in the Greek league, was nominated for Player of the Month. Opponents faced during the month of February are PAOK (0-0 draw), Panetolikos (6-1 win), PAS Lamia (3-0 win) and Panasinaikos (0-0 draw). With Hwang In-beom holding out, Olympiacos is undefeated in 17 league games (11 wins, 6 draws).

The goal for the rest of the season is the cup competition. Olympiacos (3rd place, 53 points) failed to lose 4 consecutive league titles, behind AEK Athens (1st place, 59 points) and Panathinaikos (2nd place, 58 points). It’s a big regret, but we are preparing for the final round of the league and the Greek Cup semi-final against AEK on the 14th of next month.

Meanwhile, along with Hwang In-beom, players nominated for February’s Player of the Month include Georgios Kucias, John Toral, Alberto Brignoli, Georgios Riabas, Sverir Ingi Ingasson, and Panayotis Cintotas. Voting will close at noon on the 10th, Korea time.
