‘Olympic, World Cup challenge’ KXO plans to host two 3×3 international competitions in 2023

“KXO is working hard to host two international competitions this year. If everything goes as planned, we will host two 3×3 international competitions in Korea in the second half of this year.”

From the 4th, the 2023 KXO 3×3 Winter League in Hongcheon is underway at the Hongcheon-gun National Sports Center in Hongcheon-gun, Gangwon-do. This tournament, which runs until the 5th, will be held across three categories: U18, men’s open, and KXO league, and is also the first 3×3 competition to be held in Korea in 2023.

KXO, which entered a break at the end of October last year, is conducting a project to promote international exchange in 2023. Last January, KXO, who went to Mongolia training camp with 6 KXO League players, is in a position to set out to host a 3×3 international competition after this competition is over.

2023 is an important year for 3×3 teams around the world. Based on this year’s performance, the 2024 Paris Olympics preliminary and direct teams are covered, and the 2024 3×3 World Cup advance team is also determined.

Currently, Korea is ranked 66th in the world for men (16th in Asia) and 70th in the world for women (18th in Asia). If the current trend continues, let alone qualifying for the Olympics, they will fail to advance to the 3×3 World Cup for five consecutive years. South Korea has not been able to go to the World Cup stage since the men’s 3×3 national team competed in the 3×3 World Cup in 2019.

This year, we have to step out to raise the FIBA 3×3 national rankings somehow. To this end, it is necessary to collect points by participating in 3×3 international competitions as many domestic top rankers as possible. However, while there is still no movement to solve this problem, KXO has started to move first.  메이저놀이터

KXO, which is discussing participating in the 3×3 Super Quest (Level 8) to be held in Mongolia in April through exchanges with Mongolia last January, plans to host two 3×3 international competitions in August and September this year.

A KXO official said, “It is still too late. For men, the difference in points from Qatar (5th in Asia), which we are aiming for, is over 190,000 points. “We have to come together. Only then can we have even a little bit of a chance. It doesn’t make sense that Korea, which claims to be a powerhouse in Asian basketball, can’t even qualify for the Olympics or the 3×3 World Cup for five consecutive years, so we decided to move at least KXO.”

Currently, basketball associations around the world are confirming the holding of the 3×3 international competition. We plan to use the available network to have KXO league players participate in the 3×3 international competition. Plans to attract Super Quest (Level 8) twice. Currently, more than 90% of the preparations are complete, and the invitation will be finalized soon through consultation with FIBA (International Basketball Federation). Once confirmed, teams participating in the 2023 KXO League, We plan to give players a chance to compete,” he added.

One month has passed since 2023. Qualifications for the 2024 Paris Olympics and the 3×3 World Cup will be determined by the FIBA 3×3 national rankings on November 1 this year. In any case, I hope that by collecting as many points as possible this year, 2024 will see Korea 3×3 take a step forward.
