WBC U.S. representative Turner, 5th home run in the finals… shoulder to shoulder with Lee Seung-yeop
Trey Turner (Philadelphia) of the 2023 World Baseball Classic (WBC) US national team tied Doosan coach Lee Seung-yeop, the “national hitter,” with the most home runs in a single WBC tournament.
In the WBC final against Japan held on the 온라인바카라22nd at Londipo Park in Miami, Florida, Turner started as the sixth hitter and shortstop and hit a home run in the first at-bat. Turner, who entered the plate with one out in the top of the second inning when the score was 0-0, attacked Japanese starter Shota Imana’s four-seam fastball on the fourth pitch and passed it over the left wall. This is his 5th home run in the tournament.
Earlier, in the first round against Canada on the 14th, Turner hit a solo home run and reported the first gun. In the quarterfinal match against Venezuela on the 19th, he became a hero by hitting a come-from-behind home run. The next day, he also hit two home runs in the semifinal against Cuba.
Turner stood shoulder to shoulder with Doosan coach Lee Seung-yeop, who holds the record for the most home runs in a single WBC tournament. Coach Lee hit 5 homers in the first inning of the 2006 tournament.
